How Ready Is Your Marketing Team for Agentic AI?
Why we created an Agentic Marketing Readiness self assessment

A new self-assessment from Kana and Transparent Partners helps marketing leaders measure what actually matters across five dimensions most organizations overlook.
Every marketing leader we talk to has the same question: Where do we start with agentic AI?
It's the right question. But it's usually followed by the wrong next step; jumping straight into vendor evaluation, pilot selection, or proof-of-concept scoping before understanding whether the organization is actually ready to get value from any of it.
Readiness isn't about whether you have budget or executive sponsorship, though those can help. It's about whether your data foundations, operating model, team capabilities, and organizational alignment can support a technology that doesn't just assist your team but actively takes action on your behalf.
Because Agentic Marketing means running campaigns, optimizing spend, personalizing experiences, learning from results all within boundaries you get to define.
That's a fundamentally different operating model than anything in your stack today, and deploying it on top of an organization that isn't ready for it is how you get the disillusionment cycle we've seen play out with every prior wave of martech innovation.
To help marketing leaders get an honest read on where they stand, we worked with our friends at Transparent Partners to build an Agentic Marketing Readiness Assessment.
Why Complete the Assessment?
After answering the 20 questions you will immediately receive:
- A readiness score across five dimensions, so you can see exactly where you're strong and where the gaps are.
- Practical next moves sequenced for the next quarter, written in plain English. This is not a generic maturity model, but specific recommended next actions based on your responses.
- An full report delivered to your inbox with detailed findings.
It's designed to be useful immediately, not a lead-gen form disguised as a quiz. The results are actionable whether you ever talk to us or not.
What the Assessment Measures
The assessment is a 20-question diagnostic that should require 10 minutes or less of your time, and evaluates your organization across five dimensions:
1. Organization
How aligned is your leadership on the role of AI in marketing? Is there executive sponsorship? Do cross-functional teams (marketing, data, legal, IT) have shared visibility into AI initiatives, or is each group running its own experiments in isolation?
This dimension matters because agentic AI is inherently cross-functional. An agent that optimizes campaigns touches data, creative, media, analytics, and compliance. If those functions aren't aligned on what the agent is allowed to do and who owns it, in our experience you'll hit governance walls within weeks.
2. Data Foundation
How accessible and integrated is your marketing data? Can you get a unified customer view without manual data pulls? Do your systems talk to each other through APIs, or are you still exporting CSVs between platforms?
Agents are only as effective as the data they can access. We recognize that no one's data environment is perfect, and there are large pools of unstructured and inaccurate data in every organization. But an agent with access to a fragmented, inconsistent data environment will produce fragmented, inconsistent results, so it behooves organizations to tackle their biggest data issues prior pursuing agentic marketing initiatives, as this is the foundation everything else depends on.
3. Operations and Technology
How mature is your martech stack? Do you have automation in place, or are most workflows still manual? Are your platforms API-accessible, or locked behind GUIs that require human operators?
Agentic AI doesn't replace your stack, it sits on top of it and orchestrates across it. That's why we refer to it as the new "marketing operating layer." But to truly unlock the value of agentic marketing, it needs systems it can actually interact with programmatically. If your infrastructure requires a human to click buttons in a UI to execute, an agent won't do much for you yet.
4. People and Ways of Working
Does your team have experience working with AI tools? Are roles defined in ways that can accommodate a shift from operational execution to strategic oversight? Is there appetite for change, or is the team at capacity just maintaining the status quo?
This is the dimension most organizations underestimate. Agentic AI doesn't replace marketers, it augments their output and changes what marketers focus on. Your team needs to shift from executing tasks to defining objectives, setting guardrails, and reviewing agent output. That's a skillset transition, not just a tool adoption.
5. AI Vision
Does your organization have a clear perspective on what it wants AI to accomplish in marketing? Is there a roadmap, even a rough one? Or is the current approach reactive, adopting AI tools opportunistically without a coherent strategy?
Without a clear vision, every AI initiative becomes a disconnected experiment. You'll end up with a collection of point solutions that don't build toward anything. This dimension separates organizations that will compound value from those that will plateau.
Why We Built This With Transparent Partners
We could have built this assessment ourselves. But readiness isn't just about technology, it's about organizational maturity, operating model design, and change management. Those are areas where an experienced advisory perspective adds rigor that a platform vendor alone can't provide.
Transparent Partners brings deep expertise in helping enterprise marketing organizations evaluate their data strategy, technology architecture, and operational readiness. They work with brands across industries to navigate exactly the kind of transformation that agentic AI represents, and they bring an independent lens to the conversation.
By combining Kana's technology platform experience in Agentic Marketing with Transparent Partners' advisory expertise in organizational readiness, the assessment captures the full picture: not just "is your tech stack ready?" but "is your organization ready?"
The Honest Truth About Agentic Marketing Readiness
Agentic AI is new, the operating models are still being defined, and most teams are navigating this transition while simultaneously running their day-to-day marketing, thus most organizations aren't fully ready and that's OK!
The point of this assessment isn't to tell you you're behind. It's to show you specifically where to invest your next quarter so that when you do deploy agents they deliver value from day one instead of becoming another source of frustration. We firmly believe the gap between "we have AI tools" and "we have AI agents that drive business outcomes" is almost entirely a readiness gap, and the teams that close it deliberately will have a significant competitive advantage over those that skip straight to deployment.
